ABOUT JENNIFER
Photography is something I’m truly passionate about. I specialize in photographing high school seniors and newborns.
I developed my love for photography after having my own children. This is also when I fell in love with newborn photography. Newborn babies are amazing, and I feel honored whenever I am asked to capture them. After having a baby, I know that the first couple of weeks go incredibly fast. This time will be a blur for a new parent, and before they know it, the baby's are awake for longer periods of time, they are stretched out and are no longer newborns. The perfect curl of a newborn only lasts for a couple of weeks, and it is not something that can ever be captured again.
High School Seniors are the exact opposite of my newborns. They are these amazing humans that are spreading their wings and about ready to take flight. They make me smile and fill me with inspiration. These individuals are such neat people that have such an incredible journey ahead of them. They are cool, they mostly know what they want, and are risk takers that will do almost anything to get the perfect shot. I wish I could photograph them all day, everyday. They are the most fun people!
So why do I specialize in these two stages? Because every stage of life is just that: a stage. They are short lived and precious. Every stage of your life, of your children’s lives and of your family’s life is an image worth capturing. Portraits show us experiences. They show us who we’ve been and who we are. What could be more important than that? Don’t wait until you think you look perfect or have lost enough weight…things change too fast, and before you know it, time is gone.
I understand that the process of getting a portrait taken is a big deal, and sometimes a little scary. Unlike other photographers in the area, I sit down with you before you get your portraits taken so that we are not meeting for the first time on the day of your portrait session. This allows you to hopefully feel a bit more comfortable with me as well as allows us to discuss exactly what your end vision is. We can discuss outfit choices, locations, as well as photography products so that when the shoot takes place we are shooting with a purpose, and not just shooting in hopes of getting a shot that might work in your home.
I promise you will look your best. Whether you’re a high school senior looking for your last school picture, a dancer wanting to show off your technique or a parent of a newborn who wants to make sure that those first few days that are so quickly fleeting are captured just right, I can help.
After your photo session is complete we will meet for your portrait viewing and ordering session. During this time, I’ll take the time to work with you to organize your thoughts and then decide together on which portraits have the overall look and feel that you love and want to display in your home.
My approach to photographing people is with patience, respect, and intuition. You’ll find me using mixed light, both natural and strobe. I carry with me very few gadgets, and let my subjects set the mood. I am a member of the Professional Photographers of North Carolina (PPNC) as well as the Professional Photographers of America (PPA), which allows me to attend many amazing photography events and continue to educate, grow and stay current as a photographer.
Things I LOVE in a picture…the moment, which often times we don't even realize is happening until it is over. Natural expressions, pure joy, the essence of who a person really is...and yes, this can be shown and pulled out through a photograph. A newborn baby's skin and tiny toes. The expression your high school senior gives me that takes you back to when they were little, or the look on your soon to be husbands face as you walk down the isle. All of these things and so much more make me want to continue to photograph these big life moments!
My other LOVES…my savior Jesus Christ, my husband, who is my best friend and biggest supporter, and my two little girls who teach and inspire me daily to do better and to be better. I love not only going to, but also performing in musical theater. I get goose bumps and teary eyed every time the music begins to open a new show. Other things that bring me great joy are a good laughing (Mine is loud and you will hear it from across the room!), warm sunny days, anything sparkly, the color yellow, and my absolute favorite is being able to curl up on the couch and read a magazine while having a vanilla latte.
I'd love to meet you and get to know you now. Please contact me and drop me a line!
